MARTHA MAUNEY

Martha paints exclusively in watercolor, as she loves the transparency and pure colors the medium provides. With her realistic and detailed style, she has been accepted as a Signature Member of the Watercolor Society of NC.

Growing up in the mountains around Bryson City, her interest in art and photography began in childhood. Her pieces focus upon nature's colorful objects which cause her to pause, examine the details that often go unnoticed in the rush of daily life.  She shares them through her interpretations of flowers, landscapes, and remore recently, birds and other animals.

"WHEN YOU BUY SOMETHING FROM AN ARTIST, YOU’RE BUYING MORE THAN AN OBJECT.   YOU’RE BUYING HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF ERRORS AND EXPERIMENTATION.  YOU’RE BUYING YEARS OF FRUSTRATION AND MOMENTS OF PURE JOY.  YOU’RE NOT BUYING JUST ONE THING, YOU ARE BUYING A PIECE OF A HEART, A PIECE OF A SOUL…A SMALL PIECE OF SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE."  AUTHOR UNKNOWN
